Paso Robles in California’s Central Coast has stunningly complex, ancient terroirs, rivaling those of Europe. The diversity includes ancient sea beds, shale, volcanic and granitic soils that bring intensity and rocky earthiness to the wines. Ancient Peaks Winery is a 14,000 acre estate owned by three ranching and winegrowing families, home to their estate Margarita Vineyard. It’s one of the only vineyards in the Santa Margarita Ranch AVA, often described as Paso’s coolest region. Family-owned Epoch Estate Wines, with only 6,500 cases produced, was born in 2004 by geologists Bill & Liz Armstrong, out of a love for Rhone varietals. Their premium artisan wines come from the Paderewski (a.k.a. Polish Musician), Catapult and historic York Mountain vineyards. Both wineries are driven by entrepreneurial spirit and a cowboy culture within Paso’s stunning natural beauty. Jordan and Amanda are friends and cohorts, happy to team up in sharing the magic of Paso Robles.
