Why it Pairs Well: The bright, lingering acidity of our Chardonnay cuts through the savory richness of seasoned taco meat, cheese, avocado and sour cream, while luscious flavors of pear, papaya and pineapple complement the fresh tomatoes and salsa. Subtle notes of butterscotch and caramelly richness echo the cheesy, salty flavors of the chips, creating a balanced pairing.

Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients
6 individual-sized bags Doritos
1 pound taco meat, (prepared taco seasoned ground beef or shredded chicken both work great)
Topping options (all to taste):
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese
1 1/2 cups lettuce
1 1/2 cups diced tomatoes
diced onion, (to taste)
1 avocado, diced
1 cup salsa
1 cup sour cream
Instructions
1. Cook and season the taco meat, if needed. Keep it warm until serving. Prepare toppings that need washing or cutting.
2. Gently crush the chips inside each bag, then open the bag across the top or along the side.
3. Add ⅓ cup of cooked meat to each bag of Doritos.
4. Add cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, avocado, salsa, sour cream, and any other desired toppings. Stir gently and serve immediately with a fork.
Notes
- Individual bags of Doritos, Fritos, or sturdy tortilla chips work best.
- Plan on one chip bag and approximately ⅓ cup taco meat per person.
- Cut the bags along the long side for a wider opening that is easier to fill and eat from.
- Keep taco meat warm in a slow cooker when serving a crowd.
- Add cheese over the warm meat, then layer vegetables and wet toppings on top.
- Wait to assemble the tacos until serving so the chips remain crunchy.
- Ground turkey, shredded chicken, pulled pork, chili, or seasoned beans can replace the ground beef.
- Prepare the meat and toppings ahead of time, but store each component separately.
