This isn’t just another wine competition—it’s the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s annual Uncorked! International Wine Competition, which is one of the most respected and impactful wine competitions in the nation.

And we are proud to announce that our new release 2016 Renegade red blend was just named “Top Region Wine” at the latest Uncorked! competition. The “Top Region Wine” is ranked among the competition’s “champion” awards.

The competition, held November 3-4 at NRG Center, included 3,156 entries from 18 countries, including Argentina, Austria, Chile, France, Italy, Japan, Portugal and South Africa. Texas wineries represented 413 entries, and 370 entries came from this year’s featured region, California’s Central Coast.

Needless to say, we are thrilled that this new release from Ancient Peaks has earned such a prestigious accolade.

Each year, the winemaking vision of Renegade is to craft a rich, boldly flavored wine with structure and finesse. The result is a blend that pushes the envelope and resists conformity. The 2016 vintage is composed of Syrah, Zinfandel, Malbec and Petit Verdot from our estate Margarita Vineyard, with a contribution of Petite Sirah from our estate Wittstrom Vineyard. It presents heady aromas of plum, cherry, violets, vanilla bean and savory leather with a suggestion of baking spice. Juicy flavors of red and black fruits comingle seamlessly across a rich, expansive palate.

Come experience this wine for yourself out our Paso Robles tasting room and café.
