UPDATE 3/11/20: In an abundance of caution, this Spartan race has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date. However, SLO County is wide open for business, so come exercise your palate with our region’s amazing wines and slake your thirst for adventure with ziplining, kayaking, cycling around the vineyards and more.
It’s time to toughen up, wine drinkers, because the famed Spartan obstacle race is coming to our estate Margarita Vineyard!
That’s right, you are invited to come out for the upcoming Spartan San Luis Obispo 50k Ultra, 21k Beast and 10k Super Obstacle Course Races (OCR) here on Santa Margarita Ranch on March 14-15, 2020. In addition to the more advanced Ultra, Beast and Super obstacle races, there is also the Spartan San Luis Obispo Trail Half Marathon and 10k on March 15—a no-obstacle traditional trail running race through rugged wilderness, overseen by legendary race directors from the sport. The weekend will also feature ½-mile, 1-mile and 2-mile Spartan Kids courses for ages four to 14. Ancient Peaks wines will be available for sampling at the event for those 21 and older.
So, would you like some courage with your Cabernet? A little muscle with your Merlot? A chance to show you can do a lot more than pull corks? Then let us show you how it’s done with our new “training” video, starring some of Ancient Peaks’ finest along with Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance’s Christopher Taranto:
“We are honored to have Spartan recognize our ranch as a land of wine and adventure,” says Amanda Wittstrom-Higgins, our VP of Operations. “We see wine as a healthy part of an active lifestyle, and we cannot wait to put ourselves to the test.”
In other words, challenge accepted, and we hope you will join us!
