3 REASONS WHY

ZINFANDEL PAIRS WITH BBQ

It’s a given that most Zinfandel wines pair perfectly with your BBQ’d meats, sides, and dishes in between. If you’ve seen photos of people grilling ribs or burgers with a glass of red wine within arms reach, it’s typically Zin. But why? Well it really boils down to what the Zinfandel grape has to offer — and trust us, it’s the perfect amount of fruit, peppery, and smoky. All things that, you would say, BBQ brings to the table as well. Serve this wine with any dish that is braised, grilled, or smoked.

  1. Zinfandel’s classic peppery aromas and flavor pair well with the smoky, peppery characteristic of BBQ sauce.
  2. Zinfandel loves meat due to it being a varietal that tends to exhibit a higher alcohol content (usually 14-16%). This means that the wine won’t be overpowered by the food, and vice versa.
  3. The fruit-forward flavors in Zinfandel complement the tangy, sweet, and savory flavors of a classic BBQ sauce.

Margarita Vineyard has become renowned for producing one of Paso Robles’ most acclaimed Zinfandels – the Ancient Peaks Zinfandel. Here, amid the region’s coolest growing environments, the Zinfandel grape achieves a rare valance of robust flavors and elegant structure. Zinfandel has been a cornerstone variety of Paso Robles for more than 100 years, and we are proud to feature it in our small family of wines.
